We want to share with you the processes we are going through to preserve Torkom’s work in our new center. Our librarian has put together a small glimpse into the massive undertakings to organize and catalog the Torkom archives.
Notes from our TSG Librarian:
Torkom once said of his writing, “I noticed also that for a month I will write small papers on various subjects, but at the end, to my amazement, I see that they were parts of one whole book.” These “small papers” arrived at TSG more than twenty years ago in paper bags and assorted boxes. Over the years they have since been organized and labeled, and are now being cataloged, along with their typed versions which Torkom organized and which became the books. Various biographical and historical materials, and the many audio and video recordings of Torkom’s lectures are also being logged. Gita’s lectures, journals, and historical materials from TSG are being boxed and cataloged. These precious archives will always be the living heart of our Temple, safeguarded and preserved for future generations.
Over 3000 manuscripts are being logged.
The typed manuscripts were organized into binders which became the published books. More than 100 binders are being organized and logged.
Over 30 boxes of audio/video materials have been preserved and are being logged. (stored in the shower stall of the current center)
